I used them for the first time recently working at Mt. Snow Ski Resort in West Dover VT. For a week in ankle deep snow and average 7 degrees with the wind chill, I spent 8 to 10 hours each day working outside. I wore sneakers with regular tube socks in the overshoes and my feet stayed dry and warm! I was also pleased with the traction of the overshoes. Only on ice, like any other shoe, do you then need crampons.
